The Trip

Down South Brown Trout, Down South Hospitality

Some of the best places to fish are sometimes overlooked depending on where you are from.  The White River in Arkansas is one of those places.  Destinations Fly Fish is proud to partner with the White River Trout Club for some down south trout fishing.

The WRTC is located in Flippin Arkansas right on the banks of the White River.  Located below Bull Shoals Dam, The White River and its tributary, the Norfork River, form a renowned trout fishing destination in Arkansas, offering rich fishing experiences thanks to their unique geographical and hydrological characteristics.

The Bull Shoals Dam creates a nearly 100-mile stretch of cold water that is ideal for trout, making it one of the best trout fisheries in the region. The river remains cool, allowing trout to thrive even in southern sections of the river.

The Norfork River, though much shorter at about 5 miles in length, plays a huge roll in keeping the fishing going.  When it flows into  into the White River about 40 miles downstream from Bull Shoals, the Norfork supplies a nice shot of cold water to the White River to keep the trout fishing going for another 40 miles.

Both rivers have produced world class brown trout and provide varied fishing opportunities. I know we keep talking about the White River, but don't think the Norfolk can't  hold its own having produced several record class brown trout over the years. Together, they make this region a dream destination for trout anglers, offering both diversity and quality fishing experiences.

Where we Stay

The WRTC

It just might not get any better than this! When you look out the front window of the pavilion and all you see is cold, clear water and lush grounds.  It's hard to think of a better place to spend your trout fishing adventures.  Did I mention that the entire property has been recently updated.?  You won't find a better blend of modern amenities and nostalgic comfort anywhere in the area.

The Grounds

The property at the WRTC is fairly expansive, yet it just feels like home.  The cabins and rooms at the lodge are perfectly nestled among the  trees providing shade and the perfect place to relax after great fishing days.

The Cabins

These cabins come in a variety of configurations to suit your needs and are fully equipped with queen-size beds, flat-screen TVs featuring DirecTV, and complimentary WiFi to keep you connected.

Many of the cabins have large decks with awesome views of the river, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or unwinding after a day of fishing. Whether you're here for the world-class trout fishing or just to escape into nature, the cozy cabins provide the perfect balance of comfort and privacy.

Lodge rooms

Situated in the "horseshoe," the lodge rooms certainly hold their own for comfort and efficiency.  The rooms are well appointed and each have full or partial kitchens. Couple that with flat screen TV's and good internet if you need to stay connected and you won't be disappointed with your stay.
